VISITORS:
“Well done to everyone who has worked and contributed to the Lightbox from the beginning, and may it prosper forever and be appreciated by the people of Woking. I much appreciate being able to come here. Elizabeth, Woking Resident.” 03/2009
"Our first visit, we were welcomed and given all the information about the Lightbox and were in the restaurant having a breakfast! 10/10. Enjoyed Bob Dylan’s paintings and the discussion with the member of staff. The huge insects! Great. The building is immaculate, we’ve enjoyed our visit to Wokings History, what a great morning. We hope to visit again." - A visitor
"Really enjoyed the exhibitions, they were very interesting. We enjoyed the history of Woking exhibition, it was very informative! Great atmosphere!" - A visitor
"Having heard recently of the new Lightbox gallery, I visited it to-day. What a stunningly beautiful building inside and out. The council must be congratulated on a modest design which is placed in a convenient town centre location. Great planning has gone into it, easy to climb stairs, lifts, toilets galore! Excellent cafe, delightful and helpful staff. Suffice to say, well done to all concerned. I shall visit again and I shall especially look forward to art exhibitions in the future. The sculptures displayed to-day pleased me very much. Thank you for providing this part of Surrey with a futuristic and exciting gallery." - A visitor

A jewel in Woking’s crown. A distinguished building by any standard. And unlike some remarkable new museums, it is also full of interest and entertainment. It is to be hoped that the momentum in terms of maintenance and financial support will be continued. A reason to visit Woking and support local businesses too!" - A visitor
“It was tremendous fun and our whole family thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a major achievement to keep 2 adults and 2 teenagers absorbed and interested for an hour and a half!” - Thank you letter following an animation workshop.
PRESS:
“On an exiguous construction budget of £4.1m, they have designed an ingenious jewel that has immediately become the best building in Woking town centre.” - Stephen Bailey, The Observer, September 2007
“The Lightbox... explodes the common myth that museums and galleries are places in which visitors drift from dusty exhibit to dusty exhibit... . Everything, from the displays to the décor, is eye-catching ... and the welcoming attitude of the staff simply adds to the hospitable atmosphere.” - Katie Dock, Access by Design Magazine, Winter 2007
SCHOOLS:
“How lucky we are in Woking to have such a wonderful new art gallery and museum! I had a wonderful day – an inspiration and really enjoyed helping to run The Big Draw event with many parents and children from The Oaktree School, and my own class, joining in the fun” – Jackie Palmer, Art and Maths Co-ordinator, The Oaktree School.
