The Ingram Collection
The Lightbox Gallery houses and regularly exhibits The Ingram Collection, one of the largest and most significant publicly accessible collections of modern British art in the UK. We ensure its accessibility through an annual exhibition programme as well as displays in the Ingram Sculpture Gallery, courtyard, and other public areas.
The Heritage Collection and Woking's Story
The Lightbox Heritage Collection comprises thousands of fascinating historical objects emphasising local significance. This collection comprises our permanent museum, Woking's Story.
Woking's Story is a rich, interactive museum at the Lightbox which explores the town's fascinating past. The family-friendly displays contain something for everyone, from a children's dress-up box to stories of local people. Woking’s Story encourages you to explore the significance of the local area and community through an engaging deep dive into the social history of Woking.
We welcome bookings from schools and groups to visit any of the changing exhibitions or our heritage collection on display in Woking’s Story.
The Joan Hurst Collection
Seventeen modern sculptures, including works by Jacob Epstein and Elisabeth Frink, have been given to The Lightbox by Joan Hurst through the Art Fund.
The first major gift bestowed on the Lightbox, this collection represents some of the most significant works of British sculpture. These pieces are regularly shown in the galleries and public areas.

"This gift of sculpture comprises works from my collection which are very dear to my heart… I am so pleased that The Lightbox is to be the recipient. I do hope this collection of British sculpture will allow them to continue strengthening their Modern British area of interest, for which they are becoming increasingly well-known."
